Urgyen Badheytsang is a Kathmandu-born Tibetan Creative Director and UX Designer based in Toronto. Growing up, Urgyen was surrounded by Tibetan paintings and rugs—his father was a Thangka teacher and rug designer. He absolutely did not draw over any of them.
Having lived in New York, Kathmandu, & Toronto, Urgyen brings an authentic style and approach to his work. Empathy—first and foremost—is the key to great design, according to him. Beside developing intuitive UX design and compelling brands, Urgyen manages Drokpa zine, a Tibetan e-zine with his talented illustrator friend Lhamo, and works on various projects supporting disenfranchised communities and individuals through his ‘Moonlight Initiative’.
Urgyen is a steadfast believer that good design happens not at the end of a formulaic process or on the sketchbook, but when it happens.
