The founding team for this project had linguistic professionals, Executive Directors of NGOs, Foreign policy and lobby and advocacy experts, to name a few trades. This meant that the assumption personas were going to be based on very well-founded and reliable experiences, but also that the project needed heavy input from the designer as a creative facilitator.
The final design of the site took into consideration the intuitive style of navigation, accessibility, and contemporary social media functionalities required to make the site engaging and widely shareable. One of the key considerations were also input from the team behind the site derived from various conceptual themes from their design breakout sessions. One of the results of this session was the use of a mythical ‘Truth-telling Parrot’, which became a symbol of the messenger, and was interpreted as a tip-sharing section in the site featuring an actual parrot, playing on the idea of ‘parroting policy tips’.
The site background is minimal, with simple design of mountains and the sky, symbolizing the clarity from a bird’s eye view. The overall site is ultimately designed to be approachable with a hint of playfulness.
